Melinda Vance White

Melinda Vance White, 48, of Clanton, died after a long illness on Monday, Sept. 12.

Melinda was born in Kosciusko, Miss., and graduated from Ethel High School class of 1986.

She is survived by her husband, Danny White; son, Parker Vance White; daughter, Mary Margaret White; and mother, Linda Vance Riley, all of Clanton. She is also survived by her father, Dalton Ray Vance (Carolyn) of Thorsby, and brother, Charles DeWayne Vance (Andrew) of Dallas, Texas.

Melinda loved her husband’s family and they too mourn in her passing, mother-in-law, Linda White of Tupelo, Miss., sisters-in-law, Laura Hinds (Brad) of Alabaster, Babette Keith of Tupelo, Miss., and brother-in-law, Tony White of Tremont, Missi.

Melinda was from a large family including 20 first cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.

Melinda served as the Children’s Director and Preschool Director at the First Baptist Church of Clanton. She touched the lives of so many little ones in her lifetime and loved teaching them music. It was not uncommon to see Melinda dressed in a Sponge Bob, peacock, banana, or other silly costume. Melinda often exclaimed that this was her dream job and she was so happy at First Baptist.

Previously she had worked at Wal-Mart in Clanton, where she was loved by so many with her infectious smile and crazy sense of humor.

Service will be Thursday, Sept. 15 at Clanton First Baptist Church Christian Life Center.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 5-8 p.m. at Clanton First Baptist Christian Life Center.
