All Shoney’s around the country, including the one in Clanton, will be offering free meals to law enforcement next Wednesday, July 27. This move, made by Shoney’s CEO and Chairman David Davoudpour, comes after all of the turmoil that has struck the country over the past few weeks.
“America’s men and women in blue need to hear ‘Thank you’ in a tangible and heartfelt way,” Mr. Davoudpour said in a press release. “Shoney’s opens its doors every day so that families can enjoy fresh quality food and friendly service for an incredible value, but it is never lost on us that none of that happens without our men and women of law enforcement across this great country of ours who make our communities safe. We want to thank them and we salute them with a free meal on the house. If you’re a police officer in your hometown or are traveling to a place where Shoney’s does business, please know you are welcome here.”
Craig Driver, the manager of the Shoney’s in Clanton, said that he knows several of the officers from the city and that they even have a lot of regulars from other places stop by.
“Being in a small town we are just very family oriented and think a lot of our officers,” Driver said. “They put their lives on the line for us every day and it’s the least we can do to show a little appreciation.”
Driver mentioned that he’ll see his servers chatting with officers all the time and that they really make them feel appreciated.
“Breakfast, lunch or dinner, it doesn’t matter, we just want to serve them our great food, to show them we care and that we are grateful for them,” Davoudpour said.
All police officers and members of law enforcement will receive a free meal by showing identification or wearing their uniform. There is a limit of one free meal per member, during all business hours on July 27. Shoney’s in Clanton is open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m. and is located at 946 Lake Mitchell Rd.
