The 2016 Relay For Life Queens had the privilege and honor of delivering 187 Beads of Courage Bags to Children’s Hospital.
Beads of Courage Bags are for children to store their colorful beads they receive as symbols of their courage and strength while going through serious illnesses.
The bags he Relay Queens delivered were made by the Chilton County High School FCCLA Chapter. Each bag has a note of encouragement that was written by the student that made it.
The FCCLA teacher, Cami Hawk, was looking for volunteer opportunities for the chapter when Beads of Courage Bags was suggested by a former student and her mother, who had performed volunteer work at Children’s Hospital and had seen many children affected by cancer and other illnesses.
Hawk felt that this could be a way for students and our community to give back.
