Clanton Mayor Billy Joe Driver has proclaimed April 24-30 as Parental Alienation Prevention Week and April 25 as “Bubbles For Love” Day.
April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month.
At noon on April 25, the Alabama Family Rights Association requests that Clanton residents stop what they are doing and take 10 minutes to blow some “Bubbles for Love.”
The national campaign is designed to raise awareness for parental alienation, which is a form of abuse that can cause emotional trauma to children.
“Parental Alienation is a term used to describe any number of behaviors and attitudes on the part of one parent, both parents, or a third party designed to interfere, damage or destroy the relationship a child has with their other parent,” according to an ALFRA press release.
Anyone is encouraged to participate with other people throughout the nation in the soap bubble blow, whether it be inside or outside depending on the weather.
“We’ve been doing this a couple of years,” Driver said. “It’s a really good thing for the community.”
The proclamation states that “strong family relationships constitute the foundation of our community.”
