Students across Chilton County will gather around the flagpoles of their respective school campuses Wednesday morning for the national time of prayer known as See You at the Pole.
Most Christian student groups meet between 7 and 7:15 a.m., prior to school that morning.
Wednesday evening, 12 area churches will come together to sponsor the second annual P3, short for “Post-Pole Party,” at Clanton’s Corner Park from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Amidst an inspirational message by Christian rapper LP and group-led worship by Matt Littlejohn Band, students from the surrounding communities will lead prayer for different topics ranging from local concerns to national issues.
All students are invited to P3, including students from Jeff State Community College.
“I would just like to invite everyone from the community to come show their support for making a stand for Christ on their school campuses and also in their communities,” said Erron Price, student minister at Lomax Assembly of God.
This year’s theme is “Engage,” based on the scripture passage 2 Kings 22:13. Themed T-shirts and bracelets will be given away at the party.
Also, a prayer team has pledged to be on hand to counsel and pray with students, Price said.
“Last year we had between 200 and 250 students and parents attending,” he said, adding that the number of supporting churches has more than doubled since last year.
