Though they have only been open for two weeks, it has been a busy two weeks at Cake Addiction, located at the corner of Highway 145 and Ollie Avenue.
According to owner Shelley Jones, the night before Valentine’s Day, they actually stayed open an extra two hours to accommodate walk-in customers.
Jones, former owner of Kinsley’s Cupcakes, took a three-year break from the baking business when the building in which it was located was sold.
She opened Cake Addiction at the encouragement of and in partnership with her daughter Nicole Barrett, who missed the baking business.
Offering exotic cupcake flavors such as snow cream, ocean water and naughty, in addition to cotton candy, wedding cake and others, Jones indicated that they try to be different.
Primary to their baking is the use of real butter and fresh fruit in their cakes and cupcakes.
On display, and for sale every day, are cupcakes of all kinds.
Cakes are available for special order and may be ordered by phone or by walk-in request. Many people bring in pictures from Pinterest, or pictures of their own, which can be duplicated or adjusted as the customer desires.
“If you dream it, we can do it,” Jones said.
Cake Addiction will be offering cake by the slice starting next week.
Business hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
They do take “Baker’s weekends” and are closed Sunday and Monday.
