Linda Sue Olmsted

Linda Sue Olmsted, 71, passed away on Sept. 15 at Swedish American Hospital after a yearlong battle with lung cancer.

Born March 15, 1944 in Birmingham, she was the daughter of George and Marie (Ray) Nesbitt. She married Larry Tomblin and they had two children, Tamela and John “Mike” Tomblin.

She later married Robert Page Olmsted, on July 31, 1986; he predeceased her on June 24, 2004.

Linda owned and operated Tempconnect, Inc., retiring in 2003.

She was a member of First Free Evangelical Free Church.

Linda enjoyed traveling, shopping, eating out at various restaurants and trips to Lake Geneva.

Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, friends and her dog, Sophie.

Survivors include children Tamela Murphy (Paul) and John “Mike” Tomblin (Kelly); stepchildren, Jon Olmsted (Kristin) and Jenifer King (Tom); grandchildren, Joshua, Sarah, and Liam Murphy, Hudson and Nash Tomblin, Madelyn Olmsted, Tommy, Casey, Ellie Page and Tyler King; stepmother, Frances Nesbitt, and very special family friends for over 40 years, Karen Ter Maat and Dinah Harris.

A celebration of life was held Sept. 19 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Chuck Rife officiating.

Visitation was from 2 p.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
