Cam Ward booked on DUI charge

Alabama Sen. Cam Ward, R-Alabaster, was booked into the Shelby County Jail on a driving under the influence charge, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Ward represents Shelby County and multiple other central Alabama counties in the state Senate.
He was booked into the jail on July 1, and had no bond listed as of 7:20 p.m. on July 1. His arrest warrant was not yet listed in court documents.
As of July 1, calls to Ward, Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office had not yet been returned.
