A representative with Chilton County Relay For Life spoke to members of the Chilton County Commission on Monday about an upcoming event this fall.
Jeannie Reynolds Smith addressed commissioners about a “Men in Pink” effort that invites men in Chilton County to help raise money for breast cancer research.
“I am coming to you not as commissioners, but as a panel of influential men in this county to see if you are willing to step up and create a world with more birthdays,” Smith said. “I have been given the opportunity to celebrate more birthdays, because of God’s grace and mercy, and because of people who chose to get involved with Relay For Life.”
Smith spoke to commissioners about her own personal battle with cancer, and invited commissioners to consider participating in the “Men in Pink” event.
Commission Chairman Allen Caton thanked Smith for coming and speaking to the commission, and commissioner Shannon Welch shared about participating in this year’s Relay For Life event as the emcee.
“I appreciate being given the opportunity to be part of something like that,” Welch said.
