John Thomas Glasscock

John Thomas “J.T.” Glasscock, 73, of Clanton, passed away on May 1 at the VA Hospital in Birmingham. He was born in Bibb County on July 9, 1941, the son of the late Foster Glasscock and the late Annie Williams Glasscock.
J.T. was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother and a friend to many.
He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Jemison, where he served as music director for many years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Glasscock of Clanton; son, Chris Glasscock (Danelle); daughters, Cynthia Davenport, Carla Hayes (Ricky), Charity Feit (Fil), Susan Haggard (Daniel) and Savannah Wallace; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; step-sons, Anthony Jones and Dwayne Jones and brothers, Hubert Glasscock (Jeanette), Gilbert Glasscock (Johnny) and Raymon (Mary Lynn Glasscock).
He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Courtney Jones; great-grandson, Blaze McCary; parents, Foster and Annie Glasscock and brothers, Daniel Glasscock and Hoover Glasscock.
Visitation was held May 4 from 5-8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held May 5 at 11 a.m. from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Jemison with the Rev. Tim Scott, the Rev. Bobby Payton and the Rev. J. Aaron Ellison officiating. The body will also be in state one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Jemison.
