C.C. “Chick” Carlton, 94, of Clanton died Monday, April 6, 2015, at his residence.
He was born on Wednesday, March 23, 1921, in Coosa County, son of the late Timmons Carlton and the late Pearl Farris Carlton.
He was the Superintendent of Horticulture for the Auburn Experimental Station for 35 years. He was a graduate of Auburn University and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Etta Jo Carlton of Clanton; son, Mark Phillip Carlton of Foley; sister, Madelyn (Burt) Jones of Tuscaloosa and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Timmons and Mrs. Pearl Carlton; son, Michael Clark Carlton; five sisters and one brother.
A memorial service will be Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Clanton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
