Peaches & Brew held a grand reopening on March 10, inviting those in the community to come and celebrate a new direction for the business.
“We’ve got a lot of changes,” owner and operator Jeonna Vironet told those in attendance. “We’re getting there, (just) not quite as quickly as we anticipated.”
Vironet said the business, located at 605 2nd Ave. N. in Clanton, was putting the final touches on several renovations, including the addition of a menu board that will hang across the back wall of the building.
Vironet also said a few tweaks have been made to the menu, including a new dish that combines pizza and quesadillas.
“The pizza-dias will hopefully be a big item,” she said. “It’s just something a little different. We also will be having smoothies that are all natural, with no artificial ingredients.”
Peaches & Brew held a grand opening in Dec. 2014 with the intention of being a quick-serve bistro with cupcakes, cookies and other baked goods along with coffee, Vironet said, but quickly became a eat-in destination.
“It’s been kind of confusing,” she said. “We set up to be like fast-food (service), but have had more people dine in. We do a lot more lunch business than I expected. We’ve done a lot with salads, soups and sandwiches.”
The business still serves baked goods but is trying to adapt to better serve its customers’s desires, Vironet said.
“We’re hoping to serve dinner,” she said. “I try to be as unique as possible. The jerk chicken we just started cooking, it’s one of my favorites.”
Vironet said she appreciated the customers that keep coming and offering their input.
“We’ve got a lot of dedicated customers,” she said. “They’re very loyal. They have great ideas. Hearing other people’s perspectives gives me recipe ideas.”
Other changes to the menu will include options for those with food allergies, including gluten-free and sugar-free options as well as vegetarian dishes.
Vironet said Peaches & Brew originally started with help from consultants, but said she had been running the business since mid-December 2014.
While the grand reopening marked a new point in the history of the bistro, Vironet said she planned for many more.
“I’ll always change things,” she said. “There’s a lot more to come.”
