Dorothy Jean Green died Dec. 30, 2014, after a long battle of fighting cancer.

In 2008 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and then again October of 2014, as it metastasized to her bones, liver, lymph nodes and other organs throughout the body. She gave it one last fight. Throughout her fight she never lost her faith and hope of the miracles from God to heal her body until she went home to be in the Lord’s hands. She died at her home resting in the comfort of knowing she was surrounded by her family and friends.

Known to her family and friends as “Dot,” she was born in 1946 in Marion to her parents, Odell and Lucille McCullough. Later her family moved to Maplesville, where she attended Maplesville High School. It was then she met and married Goodlowe Green in January 1965 and began her life journey. Her greatest joy in life was being able to have children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her time making her family and her house a home. Having the children and grandchildren at her home was always her greatest delight in which she looked forward to waiting and catering to their every need.

She attended Pletcher Community Church, which was known as her other family that she needed to take care of also. She was always thanking and praising God while taking care of the needs and prayers of her church family. She loved her church family as her own family.
