Visitors stopping by the Clanton Alfa Insurance office during the month of October have been greeted with all things pink.

Office staff decorated the office in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month with pink balloons, posters, ribbons and lights.

“Most people who have come by have walked in and are amazed at everything decorated like it is,” Alfa Insurance Customer Sales Representative Lilly Carroll said. “It has been really fun because most people will step inside and their first reaction is, ‘Wow, it is pink in here.’”

Carroll said each Alfa Insurance Office in the state was given the option to “pink out” their office in as much or as little pink as they wanted.

Staff members were also given pink shirts to wear each Friday to show their support.

“We decided we should just go all out in this office,” Carroll said. “We really wanted to create something that people stopped and noticed, and I think it has been really successful.”

For Carroll, Breast Cancer Awareness Month has a personal meaning due to her mother being a two-time breast cancer survivor.

“I know what breast cancer does to someone,” Carroll said. “I have seen the personal side of it, and how it affects a family. The thing about breast cancer is it could affect anyone you know.”

Carroll said she enjoys bringing awareness to the cause during the month of October, but tries to remind customers and friends alike to maintain awareness throughout the year.

“It is very important for women to go have their mammograms,” Carroll said. “If I ever overhear someone say they haven’t had a mammogram or it has been several years since they have gotten one, I won’t shy away from getting on them about going and getting one.”

Office staff at Alfa will accept donations to benefit the American Cancer Society until the end of the month.

The Clanton Alfa Insurance office is located at 301 1st St. N. in Clanton.
