The Chilton County Tigers (1-2 overall, 0-1 area) fell to the Pell City Panthers (3-0), 51-20, in their first region game Friday on the road.

The Tigers found the end zone in the first half on a 14-yard Anthony Chavez pass to Cade Hatch.

The Tigers posted two more touchdowns, one on a Chavez pass to Keandre Binion for 33 yards and the other on a carry by Chavez for 22 yards.

Verbena beats region foe Autaugaville

The Verbena Red Devils (2-0) topped Autaugaville 24-20 in their first region game of the season Friday.

On offense, Verbena’s Eric Mims had 24 carries for 117 yards and a touchdown.

Tristan Short went 4-for-12 for 83 yards passing and one touchdown pass.

Juwan Tyus had two catches for 61 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Trey McCullough had nine solo tackles, five assists, two and a half sacks and a safety. Quandarius Ray had eight solo tackles, five assists, an interception and a sack. Anthony Miller had five solo tackles, one assist and a safety. Dorrian Parker scored a touchdown.

Maplesville shuts out Sunshine

The Maplesville Red Devils shut out region foe Sunshine 55-0 in the Devils’ first away game Friday.

“Coach Tate Leonard and the defensive staff did an outstanding job with preparation,” Maplesville head coach Brent Hubbert said. “They played a great game on defense.”

Thorsby falls to Pickens County

The Thorsby Rebels lost to Pickens County on the road in their first region game.

The Rebels will host R.C. Hatch in another region match-up Sept. 12.

Bears pick up road win against Loachapoka

The Billingsley Bears defeated the Loachapoka Indians 32-14 in their first area game.

Rashaud Caver had a three-yard touchdown run. Thomas Nichols added a 2-point conversion pass to Christoph Livingston. Nichols connected with Caver for the next touchdown on a 20-yard touchdown pass.

Terrance Nolen had nine carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. Nichols went 8 for 15 through the air with 114 yards and two touchdowns. Derrick Dunigan led the Bears defense with 12 tackles.
