Police chief thanks officer for going beyond the call of duty

Dear editor,
I am very proud of Officer Forrest Silas with the Thorsby Police Department. It makes a police chief proud anytime he or she hears of an officer who goes above and beyond the call of duty, and on April 18, that is exactly what Silas did.
All too often, police officers are taken for granted for their call to duty and sometimes receive much undeserved criticism.
We should all remind ourselves as citizens of Chilton County that there are brave men and women who risk their lives daily and choose this as a calling to serve and protect their own communities.
As chief of police of Thorsby, I personally want to commend every police officer in this county, state and nation for their selfless service to the citizens in their respected towns, cities and counties.
