The Clanton Lions Club heard from its zone chair, Cindy Ducker, on Friday about how the club was rated recently by its members.

Ducker said she compiled results from an assessment that individual members completed as part of a new Club Excellence process to determine the club’s strengths and weaknesses.

“This is a satisfied club,” Ducker said, noting the majority of members indicated they felt the club provides members with numerous opportunities to serve the community, and the atmosphere of meetings is “friendly.”

Ducker said some members indicated they felt the club needed to expand membership.

“We need to grow,” President Tyson Elrod said.

Ducker said another aspect of the process is for the club to submit a Community Needs Assessment, which contains feedback from community members on areas in which the club excels or needs improvement.

She said she would also compile results from that assessment and present them to the club when finished.

At the end of the meeting, Ducker presented certificates and chevron pins to long-time members of the Clanton Lions Club to recognize them for their service.

Members who received certificates included: Jim Norton, 15 years; Bobby Martin, 20 years; and Steve Mims, 30 years.
