Thorsby players wouldn’t mind waiting an hour and a half every week if the results would be the same as Friday.
The Rebels beat Shades Mountain Christian 28-6 at Friday, earning the team its first win since Oct. 26, 2007.
The game was delayed because of lightning and didn’t start until 8:35 p.m.
The Eagles scored first on an 11-yard run by Bradley Kidd with 1:58 left in the first quarter. Shades Mountain got great field position for the touchdown drive because of a fumbled punt return by Thorsby.
The Rebels would answer quickly though. Kalup Nunn scored off a 61-yard run midway through the second quarter.
He would better that with a 68-yard touchdown minutes later to put Thorsby up 14-6.
Quarterback Andrew Farris added another touchdown with a 10-yard run with 1:07 to go in the first half.
The last score of the game was a pass from Farris to Dillian Simmons.
