John Byars and Callie Moore opened our service with “Mansion Over the Hilltop.” Our choir special was “Holy Ground.”

Bro. Jen Daniel’s message was from Exodus 3:1-8. His title was “Where Are You Standing?” From within a burning bush, God called Moses.

In the evening service, Bro. Ken began a study in Revelation 1-2:11.

The children of our church are collecting socks during October for Canadian missionaries, who will distribute the socks to people in need during winter.

This beautiful Sabbath was a study in contrasts. The beautiful morning changed as the day wore on, as was predicted. The ground and the plants thereon needed the moisture, so let us be grateful.

Today, Dr. Stinson took his scripture from Luke 17:5-10. His sermon title was “The Power of Faith.” The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.” Jesus answered, “If you have the faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea’ and it will obey you.”

Dr. Stinson remarks to them and to us: “Your problem really isn’t a lack of faith. It doesn’t take much faith to do sensational things – what it takes it commitment, determination and persistence, plus a will to see it through to the end.” What say you?

Our Bible story is about friends. We call them Jesus’ disciples. The word “disciple” just means “student,” because Jesus was their teacher and they learned from him. Jesus’ disciples were so amazed at his love, they said, “Give us more faith!” They knew that if they had more faith in God, they would be filled with love, just like Jesus.

Let us remember when we pray to ask God to fill us with love. One of the first Bible verses we leaned as children is that God is love. It is well for us to remember that little verse and copy the example set before us by our Lord.
