Anyone willing to put on a pair of running shoes and get dirty is invited to participate in Bridges of Faith International’s Almighty Mud Run 5K on Oct. 12.

Proceeds from the run will benefit Ukrainian orphans awaiting adoption in the United States.

The run will be held on 140 acres of land at BridgeStone Prayer and Retreat Center, located at 302 County Road 383 in Billingsley.

The 3.26-mile course will include more than 25 obstacles designed for runners and walkers alike. All obstacles won’t be revealed until the day of the race.

Last year’s obstacles included a bottomless ravine, mud pit, hay jump, floating obstacle course and a wall climb.

The run will start at 8 a.m., and waves of 200 participants will be released every 30 minutes across six heats, starting with the Almighty Heat and ending with the Youth Heat.

Registration is $55 before and on the day of the race, and spectators may attend the event for $2.

Children must be at least 12 years old to participate in the run.

All participants will receive an Almighty Finisher T-shirt, wristband, race bib, and pre-race snacks and post-race drinks.

Live music and entertainment will take place after the run.

“The Almighty Mud Run happens twice a year and is by far our largest event,” Bridges of Faith Director of Development Tony Dyer said, adding that the organization is operated by volunteers and funded by donations.

Participants may register online or before the race Saturday, Oct. 12.

An awards ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. and the event will end at 3 p.m.

Bridges of Faith International organizes orphanage Bible camps, establishes churches in villages and brings orphans to BridgeStone from Ukraine to introduce them to American culture and the gospel.

In the last 24 months, Bridges of Faith has brought nine groups of orphans to BridgeStone.
