More than 47 acres of property in Verbena will be available for purchase at an auction on Aug. 15 at 1 p.m.
Granger, Thagard and Associates President Jack Granger said the auction will offer roughly 47 acres along the intersections of County Road 500 and County Road 502 near the Verbena Interstate 65 Exit for anyone interested in purchasing property at the auction.
Granger helps run the auctions and said one of the benefits to an auction is it provides a deadline to ensure something will sell.
“An auction provides an immediate result,” Granger said.
Granger said currently the property up for sale in Verbena is being cultivated by an individual with a crop. Those purchasing the property at the auction will have to wait before using the property until the grower gets his crop off the land.
Granger said the nice thing about Verbena is it is close to several cities.
“It is pretty centrally located and the land lays pretty,” Granger said.
Anyone interested in bidding on the property can purchase the eight parcels altogether, as a combination of parcels or in individual parcels.
“The purchasing of the land is ultimately determined by who wants to purchase the property,” Granger said. “Someone could buy a parcel and decide they want to build a house, or someone could buy a parcel and decide they want to cultivate the area like it is now. It really depends on who purchases the property.”
The auction will be held at Holiday Inn Express in Clanton off Interstate 65 Exit 205.
Granger said a class prior to the auction will begin at 12:50 p.m. to educate interested buyers about the parcel combinations.
“Those interested in purchasing a parcel will have to leave the down payment of furnished money when they bid on something,” Granger said. “Anyone interested in purchasing will want to have their down payment lined up.”
