Mount Carmel No. 1
We at Mt. Carmel continue to get ready for a great VBS, which is scheduled for June 23-28. Our Family Fun Night on June 15 at 5 p.m. will kick off the event. Following our morning service on June 16, we will have a VBS prayer walk. We ask our church family to pray for each child, worker and teacher that takes part in VBS. Commencement and “Treats For Our Sweets” will held on the evening of Friday, June 28. We welcome everyone to come and be with us.
Our Sunday morning service was started off with praise and worship. Tammy Hermon and Donald Liveoak provided special music. They sang “I Won’t Have to Worry Anymore.”
God was in our service; people came to the altar and we had a glorious time.
Bro. Derrell presented Jacob Jones with a Bible and video for his accomplishments at The Bell Center. Jacob missed last Sunday’s service because he was in the hospital. Prayers were lifted up for him.
Bro. Derrell’s message for this Sunday was taken from John 17:1 titled “Are You Living or Existing?” We are here today because of Jesus’ prayer. He lifted up his eyes to heaven and prayed to the father for you and me.
Why does it seem that we simply exist instead of living? Jesus said he came to give us life abundant. He is the Messiah, the Christ and the savior of the world. We must depend on the Father for every heartbeat, for the air we breathe and for everything, just as Jesus depended on the Father. We must learn to live to glorify God. When we do that, life will be so much better for us. We must be willing to glorify the cross and what Jesus has done for us. Thank God Jesus died on that cross and rose again, and that we have a home waiting for us in heaven.
On Sunday night, our youth did a good job of presenting their program of special music, which included the songs “What a Mighty God We Serve” and “How Great Is Our God.” We thank the youth and all who work with them.
After the youth presentation, Bro. Derrell and Tammy sang an inspiring song titled “When I Get Carried Away.” The evening message, “An Amazing Faith,” was taken from Luke 7:1-9.
Bro. John will be teaching “The Articles of Faith” during the mid-week service. Remember the youth car wash at 8 a.m. on June 29 at Advance Auto. “Friday Movies in the Park” is being held in Thorsby. On June 30, we will have our “Fifth Sunday Night Singing” with Mulberry Baptist Church. Come join us in singing praises to the Lord.
June 14 will be a special birthday for a lovely lady in our church, Elladene Mims. We wish her a happy birthday and want to tell her we love and miss her. Happy birthday to everyone on our list who is celebrating a birthday in the month of June.
Please come and celebrate the Lord Jesus in praise and worship. Our prayers are with you.
