Graham, Callens post second-place finishes at state track meet

Local athletes claimed no championships at the 2013 state track and field tournaments last week.
The best finish posted by a competitor from a local school was second place.
Billingsley’s Denzell Callens finished second in the boys high jump with a mark of 6 feet.
Isabella’s Sarah Graham was second in two events: the girls 800-meter run with a time of 2:31.04 and the girls 1600-meter run with a time of 5:44.43.
Based solely on Graham’s performances, Isabella’s girls track “team” finished 14th in the state among Class 2A schools.
The only other local athlete with a top-five finish was Billingsley’s Kaitlan Reed, who was fifth in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.77.
Callens was close to the top five in two other events. He was sixth in the boys 200-meter dash with a time of 24.23, and Callens was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 17.96.
Billingsley’s boys track team finished 19th overall, and the school’s girls team finished 24th overall. Isabella’s boys team also finished 24th.
Other performances by local athletes at their state track meets are as follows:
•Jordan Clark, Isabella: 18th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:54.43.
•Christian Littleton, Isabella: 15th in the boys 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46:24.
•Ervin Brown, Billingsley: 22nd in the boys 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.06.
•Davis Ratliff, Isabella: 18th in the boys 3200-meter run with a time of 12:02.15.
•Abram Dudley, Billingsley, 17th in the boys shot put with a mark of 35-00.50.
•Ignacio Rojas, Isabella: eighth in the boys javelin with a mark of 136-01.
•Devon Gorenflo, Billingsley: 14th in the boys javelin with a mark of 115-02.
•Dudley: 18th in the boys javelin with a mark of 103-10.
•Billingsley’s boys 4×400-meter relay team finished 14th with a time of 4:02.96.
