Jemison High School held a check presentation Thursday for money the Beta Club raised for two local organizations.

Jemison High School Beta Club sponsor Dwight Swindle, Beta Club Treasurer Cortney Reyliford, Beta Club Vice President Ansley Bittle, Development Director for Safe House Jennifer Chappel, Executive Director for Care Net Susan Scott, Beta Club Secretary Tara Lawley and Beta Club co-sponsor Chrysty Mims held a presentation of money raised by the Beta Club for Care Net and Safe House organizations.

Each check presented was worth $500 that the Beta Club raised by selling candy to the community.

Susan Scott with Care Net said she wanted to thank the JHS Beta Club for their generous contribution.

“We offer support to women and teens in crisis pregnancies with all of our services free and confidential,” Scott said.

Mims said she appreciates both organizations coming to the school during the year and giving a push for abstinence as well as educate those about domestic violence before the national day to prevent teen and unplanned pregnancy which is typically held in May.

“We are just very thankful for these groups who do a wonderful job and appreciate them coming to our school and educating our students,” Mims said.

Swindle said both organizations have come to JHS for many years noting that Care Net has been involved with the school for more than six years and Safe House since 2002.
