Sue W. Kay, 80, passed away in Andrews, N.C. on May 8, 2011.

She was born Susie Nell Willis in Chilton County on Dec. 15, 1930.  In 1965, she became the first female school bus driver in the state of Alabama; she drove for the Morgan County School System.  Sue was also a volunteer with the Foley Meals on Wheels Program, a master gardener in Mobile, a member of the Fairhope Jubilee Square Dance Club in Fairhope, and a tax advisor with the Albertville Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  She loved her family, animals and nature.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Ben T. Kay of Albertville; and three children: Ben T. Kay Jr. of Brandon, Miss.; Karen K. Nash of Andrews, N.C. and Vanessa K. Peeden of Huntsville; five grandchildren, Olivia, Jeanelle, Heather, Desiree and Tyler; four great-grandchildren and three siblings: Ann Klotz of Gamaliel, Ark., Louise Ballew of Arab and Wilburn Willis of Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Anthony Kay; parents, Wilburn Nodles and Affie Lee Willis; and three brothers: Irvin, Woodrow and Rayburn Willis.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, May 15 at 12:30 p.m. at the Peedens’ home, 10302 Trafalgar Circle, Huntsville.
