James Herschel Blalock

The Rev. James Herschel Blalock, 83, of Clanton passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012.
Born on April 29, 1929, in Clanton, Herschel was the son of Charlie E. and Pearl Little Blalock.
The Rev. Blalock was pastor of 13 Baptist churches in Chilton, Autauga, Etowah and Limestone counties in Alabama and two Baptist churches in Florida for a service career that spanned over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois Wilson Blalock; his brother, W. Howard Blalock; and his daughters, Pamela Blalock (Ravi) Srinivas of Charleston, S.C.; and Angela Blalock Radmer of Pompano Beach, Fla. His seven grandchildren are: Ramesh (Mary) Srinivas of Savannah, Ga.; Sesha (Aaron) LeVette of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Meena (Evan) Nooe of Nashville, Tenn.; Ashley Blalock, Shelley Blalock, Cody Blalock and Blake Blalock of Clanton. His five great-grandchildren are: Sati Srinivas, Josiah Lee, Alexia Blalock, Kaiden Blalock and Jayden Driver.
He is preceded in death by his son, John Herschel Blalock; his brother, C. Houston Blalock; and his sisters, Lucille Blalock Kelly and Lois Blalock Mims.
Friends will be received at Martin Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 19, from 5–8 p.m.
Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. at Concord Baptist Church in Clanton with Dr. Larry Felkins officiating.
Interment will follow in Maple Springs Baptist Church Cemetery following the services.
