Giving in happens too often these days

Dear Editor,

First, I would like to commend the staff of Maplesville High School for not giving in on this demand from the Freedom From Religion Foundation. We live in a time where the easy thing to do would be to comply with the request of this group and remove the plague and modify the MHS website.

Too much of this “giving in” goes on now, and we are glad to be part of a community that is not. Thankfully, we have leaders in place who choose not to conform with these worldly requests.

Jesus commanded his followers to obey the law. At this time, it has not been proven that it is unlawful for this phrase to be displayed. Should the phrase be deemed unlawful, I would fully expect the staff to comply with the law, ultimately following God’s command.

Jesus also said in Luke 6:27, “…Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.” As difficult as it may seem, we should pray for these people that they may wake up before it is too late.

Finally, we are proud to live in a community that is not ashamed to show respect and honor to God. Jesus said that if any are ashamed of him and his words, he will be ashamed of them in front of the Father.
