Childers was blessed with 11 children, 18 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great grandchildren. She was greeted by more than 115 relatives and friends.
The program was opened with the song “I Still Have Joy,” followed by scripture by Sis. Theresa Sailes and prayer by Sis. Maude Moore. Marian Floyd, oldest granddaughter, gave the welcome.
Saronya and Mia Kennedy, great granddaughters, presented worship and dance, followed by recognitions and reflections from Bernethia. At this time, a film was shown of a collection of old photographs of the honoree and family. This was followed by a song, “Wind Beneath My Wings” by her daughter, Dean, and closing remarks by son, Cleavell.
Closing prayer and blessings were given by Pastor Michael Nix, nephew.
