Chilton County schools will hold orientations for students and parents before school starts Monday, Aug. 20.

The following is a list of orientation dates, times and information.

Chilton County High School will hold an orientation Aug. 16 for grades 9–12 at 6 p.m. in the CCHS Auditorium.

The general assembly will be from 6–6:30 p.m., after which grades 9–11 will be dismissed to report to homerooms.

A senior meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m., after which seniors will report to their homerooms.

Parents should be prepared to fill out information forms, pay fees, buy yearbooks ($60), pay for senior yearbook advertisements (full page $200, half page $110) and purchase student planners ($5).

Verbena High School will hold an orientation day Aug. 16 for students in all grades. Parents with students in grades kindergarten through second grade will have orientation at the Verbena Annex from 12–4 p.m.

Orientation for grades 3–6 will be at the main campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

From 1–4 p.m., students in grades 7–12 may go to their homeroom teacher for their schedule, school forms and to buy a locker.

Students in grades K–6 may bring their supplies to the school during orientation. There will be some changes in the parent pick-up location this year because of a new driveway at the main campus.

Principal Robin Cagle will provide more information during the orientation.

Maplesville High School will hold orientation for grades 7–12 on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m.

Orientation for grades pre-K through 6 will be Thursday, Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Lockers will be rented on the following days: seniors and juniors, Aug. 13; sophomores and freshmen, Aug. 14; and eighth and seventh grades, Aug. 15. Lockers will be $10.

The MHS Back to School Bash will be Friday, Aug. 17 from 5–7 p.m., followed by a football scrimmage.

Students will begin classes on Monday, Aug. 20.

Clanton Intermediate School will hold orientation and pre-registration for fifth grade on Wednesday, Aug. 15; fourth grade on Thursday, Aug. 16; and third grade on Friday, Aug. 17.

Each orientation will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.

Jemison Elementary School’s orientation for parents of all new and returning students will be Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. for kindergarten; Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. for first grade; Aug. 16 at 6 p.m. for second grade; Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m. for third grade; and Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. for fourth grade.

Chilton County families wishing to enroll their children at Clanton Elementary School should do so prior Aug. 13, allowing CES to place children on a class list prior to orientation.

The school office is open Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Parents may visit anytime during the established orientation hours for each grade level: kindergarten, Aug. 15 from 3–5:30 p.m.; first grade, Aug. 16 from 3–5:30 p.m.; second grade, Aug. 17 from 3–5:30 p.m.

Information will be available during orientation session regarding medical services, busing services, afterschool services, PTO membership and enrichment classes.

A translator will be on hand for Spanish speaking families.

Registration paperwork may be picked up Aug. 14 in the school office if parents wish to complete paperwork prior to the orientation meeting.

Parents interested in afterschool services may complete applications during orientation.

Afterschool program services include homework completion, fitness class, art/music, bicycling and other enrichment activities.

Clanton Middle School will hold an open house Aug. 15 from 12–2:30 p.m.
