A lemonade stand to benefit childhood cancer research brought in close to $2,000 on Saturday.
The stand, hosted by William and Sara Pledger, raised money in honor of their late son, Logan, who passed away Dec. 2 after a long battle with T-Cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
All proceeds went to the Foundation of Childhood Cancer by way of their Alex’s Lemonade Stand program.
The stand was held outside the Piggly Wiggly in Jemison, and was very successful, according to William Pledger.
“We had a good turnout,” he said. “A lot of people donated. We couldn’t have done it without Mrs. Hamm [of the Piggly Wiggly] and her daughter helping us.”
He also said the family intended to do the stand again.
“We plan on doing again in the future,” he said. We also are doing a blood drive [in Logan’s honor] at Collins Chapel Baptist Aug. 12, with all blood going to Children’s Hospital.”
