Relay For Life holds captain meeting

Preparing to walk for the cure, a Chilton County Relay For Life team captain meeting was held at the Alabama Power Conference Center Wednesday. The team captains met with Kimberly Williams, Relay For Life state vice president; Lisa Haugen, state development director; Ann Glasscock, Relay For Life Chairperson and Aimee Eiland, co-chair.
Relay For Life’s goals this year are $199,615 gross, $185,615 net, $20,000 in sponsorships and each team raising an average of $2,900.
The team captains discussed potential team ideas, entertainment for Relay night and more.
“Everyone is working so hard this year,” said Williams. “We are going to have a great turnout.”
Relay For Life Awards for 2011 include: Top Funding School, Business, Church, Online, Organization, New Team, Team (all around) and Best Campsite (Spirit of Relay).
March 9 is the last day to register for the event, and so far there are 34 participating teams.
Teams represented at the meeting include: Highland Baptist, Lime Springs UMC, Liberty Hill, Clanton Church of Christ, Thorsby School, Misty Burnett’s team, Chilton Medical Center, New Life Community Church, Verbena High School, The Clanton Advertiser, Jemison Elementary, Jemison Middle School, Clanton First Baptist, Morning Star Baptist, First Assembly of God, Union Grove Baptist, Chilton County DHR, God’s Anointed/Hopewell Baptist, Oak Grove WMU and Refuge Baptist.
