The 13th annual Heart of Dixie beauty pageant will be held Saturday, Feb. 26 in the Jemison High School auditorium.
The pageant will be held from 3 p.m. to approximately 9:30 p.m. and will have participants from all corners of the state, according to Band Booster President Kelly Meeks.
“The pageant’s open to anyone from 0 to 21, from anywhere in Alabama,” she said.
Winners of the two oldest groups (16-18 and 19-21) will receive scholarship money, and if recent history serves well, winning the pageant may lead to bigger things.
“Last year’s winner (Keeley Patterson) is now Miss Mississippi USA,” said Meeks. “She was from Clanton, and then won the Miss Mississippi USA pageant while at Mississippi State, and she’s now competing for Miss USA.”
The pageant is sponsored by the Jemison High School Blue Regiment Band Boosters, and all proceeds will go to help paying for new uniforms and instruments for the band.
To pick up an application, visit the school’s website www.chilton.k12.al.us/JHS/BAND.htm or pick one up at school offices across the county.
