Willie Francis “W.F.” Horton

Willie Francis “W.F.” Horton of Jemison passed away Jan. 16, 2011. He was born Feb. 22, 1913, in Marvel, where he lived for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Ida Mae Horton; son, Leo K. (Christine) Horton of Jemison; sister, Yvonne Parsons of Fairfield; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Naval Medical Corp. during World War II.
He was a coalmine foreman, a steel worker and an engraver at Dewberry Engraving.
He loved fishing, hunting on the Cahaba River and he was an avid Atlanta Braves baseball fan. Most importantly, he was a loving and caring family man.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to Living River, a Presbytery retreat on the Cahaba River: 3603 Lorna Ridge Dr; Birmingham, AL 35216.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 18 at Rockco Funeral Home Montevallo. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. in the chapel, and the memorial service at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Macedonia Church in Pea Ridge.
Grand nephews will service as pallbearers with the Rev. Wendy Wolford conducting the services.
