Susan Hamm of Thorsby won the swimsuit competition in the 2012 Miss Alabama Pageant this week.

Hamm, 23, is Miss Leeds Area 2012. Miss Leeds is an official preliminary to the Miss Alabama and Miss America pageants.

Her talent is playing the piano, and her platform is the American Cancer Society.

Hamm was also second runner-up in Miss Samford University 2008.

She attended Samford University, where she majored in marketing and management.

The pageant, which started June 6, is being held at the Wright Center at Samford University through June 9. It begins at 7:30 p.m. each night.
