Marie Monteith Smith, age 85 of Clanton, passed away May 31, 2012.

She was a member of Rocky Mt. United Methodist Church and a former member of Beverly Methodist Church, and was a graduate of Phillips High School.

She was a member of the Birmingham Fire Department Auxiliary.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas Smith, and infant son, Dale Edward Smith.

Survivors include her son, Dudley Smith (Kathy) of Texas; daughter, Donna S. Greenwood (Ansel) of North Carolina; sister, Nell Monteith Hayes of Hoover; grandchildren, Dr. Jeremy Smith and Brandon Smith (Jessica), both of Texas; great-grandchildren, Maya Smith and Toby Smith, both of Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Mt. United Methodist Church: 14731 County Road 51, Jemison, AL 35085, or to a charity of your choice.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5 at Rocky Mt. United Methodist Church with visitation from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial was in Jefferson Memorial Gardens. Pastor Willard Frederick officiating. Jefferson Memorial Trussville directing.
