The Chilton County Veterans’ Memorial Day Observance will be May 28 at 10 a.m. in front of the Chilton County Courthouse where the veterans’ monuments are located.
Morris Price will welcome guests, followed by an invocation by the Rev. Phillip Burnett. Barbara White will lead in the Pledge of Allegiance, and Margaret Collins will sing “America.” Price will then introduce the speaker, Jerry Hopper, a local veteran.
Following Hopper will be the reading of the names of those lost in the wars from WWI continuing through the war in Iraq.
The program will conclude with “Taps,” the lowering of the flag and the placing of a wreath.
In observance of Veteran’s Day, the Chilton County Commission meeting scheduled for Monday has been cancelled, and the Clanton City Council meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 5 p.m.
All government buildings will be closed, and trash pickup for Thorsby will be a day behind. Trash pickup at no other municipalities will be affected.
