“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare. When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. I said unto the fools, deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, lift not up the horn: Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted” (Psalms 75: 1-10).

Thought for the week: Kindness from the heart

Take just a few moments every day to share some kindness from the heart – you’ll be surprised how uplifted a day can be right from the very start. Send roses to that special someone, a greeting card can spark a lovely smile. Visit the lonely, show them you care – and stay for a little while! Take time to pray for loved ones and strangers from afar, for all have hopes and dreams and wish upon a star. A bit of kindness from the heart can cheer along life’s way – it’s as precious as the sweet aromas flowers freely give away.

Worship service at Holly Grove Baptist Church in Jemison began with praise service led by the male chorus in prayer, scripture and songs.  Songs sung: “Bye and Bye When the Morning Come,” “Take the Lord With You” and “Lord Don’t Do It without Me.”

The scripture was read by Freddie Arrington with prayer by Pastor Dukes and Charles Arrington. The morning message was given by Pastor Dukes.

His theme: There is no ceiling with your growth in Christ; no limits; it’s up to you. The danger of playing Church, not everyone who says, “Lord, Lord,” will enter into heaven.

Some profess Christ but are not saved. Have you admitted you are a sinner and repented?

Don’t judge others; the only judge is God. Seek God to get your joy and strength back. Christians are responsible to go into hedges and byways and seek sinners to come to God.

A love for the world is false belief. You don’t change God’s word for anybody.

Denial of Jesus is a sign of false belief; don’t limit God.

Read Matthew 10: “Don’t resist to walk with God, do you sacrifice to serve him? Dedicate yourself and your soul will be saved. Disobedient and rebellious is a sign of unbelief.

Do you get along with others believers? When you fall in love will sin you fall out of love with God. Some people are so hard-hearted. The absence of love is the sign of unbelief. When are we going to grow, or do you protect empty worship?

If you have a relationship with God, you are effective at something, it’s up to you to find out what it is.

The one that serves is the one that’s great in God’s kingdom. Read Matthew 7: 23. Fellowship by Pastor Dukes, deacons and congregation.
