One of the many enduring traditions of Christmas in Clanton is the Christmas Eve communion service at Clanton First United Methodist Church. After all the rushing around to find the perfect gift, the perfect tree, the perfect menu—what a perfect way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Due to an overflow congregation in 2009, this year there will be two services— one at 5 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. Both will include special music, a sermon and Holy Communion.

The Rev. Larry Anderson, pastor at Clanton FUMC, said, “We don’t want anyone to feel as if they might have to stand up during the service or feel crowded, so we will have two services in order to have space for anyone and everyone in the community who would like to attend. This is a very significant time in the life of the church, and we hope that families will come to our services and worship and receive the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper together.”

Everyone in the community is invited to attend. You don’t have to be a member of Clanton First United Methodist Church, a Methodist, or even a Christian. The doors are open to all.
