A Clanton business has been cited for selling alcohol on Sundays.

Following up on information from a traffic stop, Clanton Police Officer Ronald Giles learned the Pure Station, also known as West Side Grocery, at 106 Enterprise Road has been making alcohol sales on Sundays.

Giles, Clanton Detective Cameron Bates and a state ABC agent performed a sting Dec. 5, buying a case of beer from the business while it was under surveillance.

Store clerk Muhammed Khan was arrested and charged with selling alcohol on Sundays, a misdemeanor. Bond was set at $500.

The business was later issued citations and fines totaling $650 for violating ABC regulations.

Clanton Police Capt. David Clackley said selling alcohol on Sunday is a violation of the law and hopes the arrest serves as a warning to other businesses and individuals selling booze illegally.
