A 40-yard field goal as time expired gave the Alabama Bengals a 29-26 win over the Central Alabama Red Devils on April 7.
The Red Devils scored on a 45-yard pass from Clayton Payne to Roman McCoy, and a 2-point conversion run by Christian Briscoe tied the game at 26 with 3:32 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Jeriel Thompson picked off a pass to give the ball back to the Devils with just more than 2 minutes remaining, but a Central Alabama interception with 58 seconds left set up the Bengals for the game winning drive.
Central Alabama hosts the ninth-ranked Georgia Bandits (6-0) at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Maplesville High School’s George Walker Jr. Stadium.
