Maplesville High School Marching Band is inviting everyone to bring their lawn chairs and support “Music in the Park” at Maplesville’s new Amphitheatre Park-Field 3, Saturday Nov. 6 at 10 a.m.
Music in the Park, a fundraiser to help raise money for the marching band, will include an antique car show, yard sale items and concessions—and there is a playground for children.
There will be gospel music performances by local artists from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., including: Tony Mitchell, The Findley’s, Gary McKee and Gary Fant.
There will also be a country music performance by Last Chance Band at 3 p.m.
“Every penny will go to the [Maplesville] band,” said Glen Riley. “The cars are paying a small entrance fees and two winners will receive trophies, but we are trying to raise money to buy new equipment and new music.
There is a $3 per person admission, but children under 5 get in free.
“We had a small turnout last year at the school because of the weather,” said Riley. “This time, we are trying to get more participation from the local community by getting the local churches to participate.”
