Colby Ramsey has turned the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series into his own personal batting practice, and Ramsey’s Clanton all-star teammates are following suit.

After winning the Home Run Derby for the O-Zone division on July 30 in Lexington, S.C., Ramsey hit four home runs in wins over Paris (Texas) National and Greenbrier (Tenn.).

Coach Jeff Price said all the Clanton all-stars have swung the bats well while outscoring their opponents 34-3.

“Top to bottom, everybody is hitting the baseball,” Price said. “We’re just trying to keep that momentum going into the next one.”

Clanton defeated Paris 13-3 and Greenbrier 21-1.

Ramsey’s 11 RBI through two games ties an O-Zone World Series record set by Kolbe Schufft of Bossier City, La., in the 2006 World Series.

In a game that ended too late to be included in this edition, Ramsey tried to break the record Monday night in a game against Sebring, the Florida state champion.

“They’ve got a good team, just like everybody else here,” Price said before the game.

Clanton’s team batting average through two games was .481, while the squad’s pitching—including Hunter Bennett, Dalton Green, Tolliver Gilliland and Bailey Sellers—had allowed only one earned run.

Joining in the fun with Ramsey, Gilliland hit his first ever home run during the win over Greenbrier.
