Manhunt underway near County Road 61 following shooting

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office is currently working the scene of a shooting incident off of County Road 61 and looking for two suspects. The incident left one person shot, and the victim was transported to the hospital. Officers are on scene searching for the offenders.

Officers received descriptions of the suspects — one white male and one black male, both estimated to be between 18-20 years old. The CCSO has established a perimeter and will have K9 units deployed in the area. CCSO advises people who live nearby to avoid the area and ensure all doors are locked.

“Your cooperation is essential as we work to resolve this situation promptly,” a press release from the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office said. “Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.”

No arrests have been made in the shooting and CCSO officers are continuing their investigation, Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon said. Shearon added that the K9 units searched the area and found nothing, and officers have deemed this an isolated, targeted incident and there is no threat to the community. The victim is expected to recover. Any information on the shooting is still encouraged to be reported to the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office at 205-755-4698.
