Thorsby High School’s Aiden Seeley is this week’s athlete of the week following his performances during the varsity boys Chilton County Basketball Tournament from Jan. 7-11.

The senior guard for the Rebels put on one of the best shooting displays in recent memory at the county basketball tournament. He started with 24 points in the semifinals against the hosts Chilton County High School on Jan. 7 while knocking down five 3-pointers, including four in the first half. Seeley was 5-for-6 from 3-point range against the Tigers.

“He shot lights out (all tournament),” Thorsby head coach Russell Ricks said. “He sparked us in both games coming out of the gate against (CCHS) with four 3-pointers in the first half, then he came out the next game and hit five in the first half.”

In the tournament final, Seeley carried over his hot streak with 17 points and a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range in the first half. Seeley missed just one shot from deep in the final, bringing his final tally from 3-point range in the tournament to 10-for-12, an 83% clip.
