Outgoing Chilton County Circuit Clerk Glenn McGriff was sent off from his post in style with a retirement party on Jan. 15 that was standing room only at the Chilton County Courthouse. Courtroom No. 1 was packed full with McGriff’s family, friends, colleagues, co-workers and more to share their pleasantries with the new retiree.

“It was very humbling,” McGriff said. “It was so good to see people from all across my lifespan that I had associated with. It was a very humbling experience, and it was pretty much everyone who had an influence on my life from a very early age to the present time.”

After wintery weather pushed the celebration back a few days, it did not dampen the crowd that came out. Many people spoke about McGriff at the celebration and his work and friendship that bonded them over for years. Many other circuit clerks in Alabama attended the celebration as well, and McGriff was presented with a few recognitions from state offices for his retirement.

Afterwards, a reception with food was held in the courtroom allowing everyone to give their best wishes to McGriff heading into retirement.
