Kansas City Royals’ pitcher and Thorsby native Tanner Jones made the most of his visit back to town for the holidays and hosted an autograph signing in Calera in December.
Jones was selected in the sixth round, No. 167 overall, of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Royals in July coming out of Texas A&M University. Jones will be in the farm system for the Royals when pitchers and catchers report in February. The local native did see his first baseball card released since being drafted, gracing the 2024 Bowman Draft set at card #BD-195.
The autograph signing in Calera saw dozens of fans come by to see Jones, both young and old. Kids brought in their own copy of Jones’ Bowman Draft card and baseballs for him to sign, and got the opportunity to speak to an MLB player from right where they are growing up at.
