Maplesville High School’s Kamylia Talley is this week’s athlete of the week for Dec. 6-12 following her performances against Ellwood Christian Academy and Isabella High School.
After a deep state football playoff run for the Red Devils on the gridiron, the basketball teams’ start to their seasons were pushed back to Dec. 10. They got the season started with an area clash with Ellwood Christian right away, but Talley seemed to have been itching to get the season started for weeks.
Talley posted 33 points and seven steals in Maplesville’s 54-42 win over Ellwood to get their season started on the right foot, and their area slate. The opening game was a clinic from the sophomore point guard who is starting to grow into her game as an all-around guard. She continued to make an impact for the squad on Dec. 13 as she was the leading scorer in the Red Devils’ 44-10 win over Isabella with 13 points, and added 10 steals, six rebounds and five assists, capping a great first week of the season.
