The Clanton Advertiser has been working diligently over the last few weeks to gather more information after a green grouch was taken into custody with a brain full of spiders and garlic in its soul.
On Dec. 1 at the Maplesville Old Fashioned Christmas in downtown, it was reported to the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office that a subject wearing all green with a very peculiar face was acting very suspicious around the booths. It was reported to officers at the event, but without probable cause, an arrest could not be made.
Later that same evening, the same subject was spotted again at the Stanton Christmas Parade again acting very strangely. Officers with the CCSO made contact, and it was determined he was drunk on egg nog and was subsequently arrested. He was transported to the Chilton County Jail where he was charged with Public Intoxication due to high levels of egg nog, Disorderly Conduct, Theft of Property with Intent to Steal Christmas Cheer and Resisting Arrest.
During his stint in jail, the subject grew grumpy as he sobered up. District Judge Chris Speaks set a bond for 500 candy canes, and after his release the subject must complete 40 hours of community service in Santa’s workshop.
When the subject was released, he felt remorseful for his actions and began to feel all toasty inside. He thought of something he had not before and said “What if Christmas doesn’t come from a store … What if Christmas … perhaps … means a little bit more!”
Chilton County Sheriff John Shearon commended the deputies on a job well done, for keeping the citizens safe and wished everyone in Chilton County a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
