The City of Thorsby has continued to grow its annual Christmas Tree Lighting, and now with the third installment of the event on Dec. 1 complete, it is turning into a countywide favorite. The tree lighting was one of the first Christmas-themed events in Chilton County this holiday season, and it got everyone in the Christmas spirit.
Queens from all walks of Chilton County were in attendance along with the Thorsby City Council, Thorsby Mayor Robert Hight and other city dignitaries. Thorsby’s Swedish Fest and Strawberry Queens sold hot chocolate during the event, and Santa Claus made an appearance.
The city’s tree is lined with a walkway of other Christmas trees that were put up by various businesses in and around Thorsby. Spearheaded by councilwoman Tonya Ray, the tree trail has grown each year and gives community partners a chance to interact within the city for a good cause. The tree trail in Richard Wood Park will be up for viewing throughout December.
