City of Clanton Mayor Jeff Mims, members of the Clanton City Council and other city officials participated in the 2024 Alabama League of Municipalities Certified Community Training Course, and were recently honored for graduating from the program.
The Alabama League of Municipalities is an association of over 450 incorporated cities and towns across the state. Established in 1935, the ALM has “worked to strengthen municipal government through advocacy, training and the advancement of effective local leadership,” the ALM website said.
Part of the training the City of Clanton officials completed during the program was the ALM’s Economic Development Academy. The academy was created in 2021, and it is designed to “educate and engage municipal officials on the essential elements and phases of economic development while highlighting their vital role in economic initiatives and projects within their communities,” the website said.
The valuable training will assist Mims and the city council in their ongoing economic development efforts in Clanton.
